Infrared Physics

Often, you hear people say that they are doing research when they are performing paranormal investigations. This is correct to a certain extent. The real research of paranormal activity is in the area of under what circumstances does this activity occur and what is the best method of investigating the phenomenon?

This article and others that will follow will discuss the physics of paranormal activity drawing on more than 30 years of my experience. The best place to start is with the question of what are the bases of investigating activity. When people talk about infrared cameras, illuminators and all of the other infrared gadgets the physics behind all of this is of course infrared magnetic waves. The infrared energy is the basis of most all investigations beyond electronic voice phenomenon.

Within the Electromagnetic Spectrum you have Ultraviolet, Visible, and Infrared Electromagnetic wavelengths. Of course the visible wave length is what we all see as light. Infrared wave lengths are longer than the visible wave lengths and appear just after the red wave length of visible light. Within the inferred spectrum is near infrared, middle infrared and far infrared the last is extreme infrared. Measured in Micrometers, Near IR is in the range of 0.75 to 2 micrometers.

What does all of this infrared have to do with paranormal investigating? Most all of the equipment used is based on this Near IR wave length. Thermal Temperature readers, Electro Magnetic Field meters cameras and other equipment are designed to pickup on the near infrared wave length. Basically, when you use this equipment you are looking for the heat signature of the ghost.

All things that have mass and are above the temperature of Absolute 0 emit an infrared electromagnetic wave, even ice emits infrared. Why does everything with mass create an inferred electromagnetic wave? All things with mass have atoms which are in constantan motion. This motion creates excess energy that the atoms give off. Here is something to think about, if all things that give off infrared magnetic waves have mass then, if ghosts give off infrared magnetic wave the ghosts have mass. When using cameras to capture the heat signature of the ghost the camera will pick up on emitted infrared as well as reflected infrared. This reflected inferred is generated by those red lights you often see on cameras.

Whenever I conduct an investigation I rely heavily on illuminators and cameras, why? Cameras when used correctly in an investigation will capture any entity that is just on the near infrared side of the spectrum. In ghost investigations you need to document every thing so an infrared camera should be the primary tool in any investigation. For me, it does not make any sense to run around with meters or temperature readers that do not document the event.

I have posted several links in the ?links? section of my website to web pages that further assist you in understanding infrared physics. I also posted a link to help explain how night vision cameras work. Your camera with night vision may not work exactly like the one depicted on the web link, however the basic technology is the same. It is always important to have a full under standing of how your equipment fundamentally works. If you have any questions or impute feel free to send me an email.
