Do not treat the Paranormal as a charity case.

I have received two invitations to join “causes” the causes are in reference to making paranormal activity/investigating a science, creating standards, methodologies, accrediting people who perform investigation and so on. There are a few things I have to say on the subject and I hope this opens discussion.

As I think about making paranormal investigating a “science” I think about air travel. Air travel in of itself is not a science; however there is science that makes air travel possible, such as mathematics, physics, and aerodynamics and so on. This is the same for paranormal activity and investigating. In the paranormal you have mathematics, physics, that make paranormal activity possible however it is not and can not be a ”science.”

If anyone wants to do something for the “cause” of making the paranormal a “science” then you should get a degree in the sciences that make paranormal activity and investigating that activity possible and then apply the science to investigating. In regards to “setting testing/investigating standards,” if you have or get a degree in the sciences that make paranormal activity and investigating that activity possible you will know that within those sciences standards of testing/investigating already apply.

A good example of standards and methodologies is in forensic photography. If you were to learn forensic photography you will learn that there is a very specific process that you use which if used correctly, you will establish objective proof of paranormal activity. For those who want to take this path, a few good places to start are photography, audio electronics, forensic photography, forensic audio, bio physics, and physics. Also, when you come across someone in those fields take the time to listen and learn from them. If you choose not to seek a degree in these areas at least you can read up on them, whatever you do, do not treat paranormal activity like a charity case.
